Serhiy Nechyporenko is a Ukrainian artist, master of decorative weaving, known for his contributions to the development of folk art and artistic textiles. He was born on October 19, 1922 in the village of Proletarskyi (now Poliske, Novgorod-Siversky district, Chernihiv region).
In 1941, he graduated from the Krolevetsk Art and Industrial Technical School, where his mentors were M. Dyachenko, I. Dzyuba, V. Maslov. Took part in the German-Soviet war. After the war, Serhiy Nechyporenko graduated from the All-Union Institute of Textile and Light Industry in Moscow. He worked at the Scientific Research Institute of Art Industry at the Academy of Architecture of Ukraine, and also taught at the Kyiv Republican Art and Industrial School.
Since 1950, he worked in the Central Art-Experimental and Research Laboratory of Ukrkhudozhprom. Nechyporenko specialized in the creation of carpets and tapestries, which were distinguished by masterful technique, exquisite color solutions and a combination of traditional Ukrainian ornaments with modernist motifs. In his works, a harmonious combination of folk heritage with an innovative approach to decorative art can be felt.
Serhiy Nechyporenko participated in numerous exhibitions of decorative arts in Ukraine and abroad, where his works were highly praised for their originality and craftsmanship. His work became an important part of the Ukrainian artistic process of the 20th century, preserving the national identity and popularizing Ukrainian weaving in the world.
Serhiy Nechyporenko was a professor at the Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design named after Mykhailo Boychuk. Lived in Kyiv on Beresteyskyi Avenue. He died on December 5, 2014, leaving behind a significant legacy in the field of decorative arts and pedagogy.
