Lesya Dovzhenko is a Ukrainian artist who worked in the field of painting, decorative, applied and monumental art, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1982.
She was born on February 23, 1948, in the city of Kyiv in a family of famous artists. She graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts in 1971, where her teachers were Roman Selskyi and Karlo Zvirynskyi.
Lesya Dovzhenko’s work was presented not only in Ukraine, but also at exhibitions in Australia, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.
She came from the artistic Dovzhenko family: her father Hryhoriy Dovzhenko is a famous monumental artist, her brother Taras Dovzhenko is an honored architect of Ukraine, and her daughter Lele Dovzhenko became a talented graphic artist.
Throughout her life, Lesya Dovzhenko maintained friendly relations with outstanding Ukrainian artists, such as Andriy Chebykin, Tiberiy Silvashi, Oleksandra Prakhova and others.
She died on August 22, 2011, and was buried at Baikovo Cemetery in Kyiv. Lesya’s creative legacy is an important part of Ukrainian artistic heritage.
