Nelly Isupova

Nelly Isupova is a Ukrainian ceramic artist, a representative of decorative and applied art, known for her creativity in the field of majolica and monumental art. She was born on March 1, 1939, in Stavropol (now Russia).

From 1956–1961, she studied at the Odesa Art School under Ivan Honcharenko and Dina Klyuvgant. Her diploma work is a majolica set for pancakes under the supervision of V. M. Lobanova.

From 1961 to 1975, she worked as a leading artist at the Vasylkiv Majolica Factory, where she created numerous original works. In 1970–1980, she collaborated as a monumentalist artist with Volodymyr Isupov.

In 1987–1988, she headed creative groups at the Sedniv House of Creativity. In 1988, she became a co-founder, and from 1998 to 2000 she headed the contemporary art gallery “Trypthy” in Kyiv. She lived in Kyiv, where she ended her life in 2015, leaving a noticeable mark on the development of Ukrainian ceramics and decorative arts.
