This year, on the occasion of the World Vyshyvanka Day, the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art presents shirts (sorochky) that are well known to the museum’s visitors. These works have been a part of the permanent exhibition in the hall showcasing Ukrainian festive folk attire from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries. The display of these shirts serves as a reminder of the museum’s enduring exhibition. These artifacts have, for many years, showcased Ukrainian embroidery art and the national dress traditions from various regions of Ukraine within our country and beyond its borders. The exhibition is complemented by depictions of complete attires that include the presented shirts. This comprehensive display highlights the overall integrity of the festive ensemble of Ukrainian folk costume from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries.
