On August 22, a new exhibition opened at the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine.
“Qirim. 10 years of hope” is the next part of the cultural project of the author Serhiy Burbelo, which is implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Fund – the program “Scholarship for the restoration of cultural and artistic activity”.
The project has undergone several stages of transformation and is replenished with new works each time. This time you can see and hear paintings with integrated texts of Crimean Tatar songs from Jamala’s music album “Qirim”, continuing the series of 40 existing paintings of the eponymous cultural project “Qirim”, which was started in 2013. Since 2014, the main goal of the project has been to constantly draw attention to the existing problem of the occupied Crimea and the oppression of the indigenous people with a rich history.
The Crimean Tatars are once again facing the same enemy that devastated their homes in 1944. From 2022, with the start of a full-scale war, the project takes on new meanings.
