On August 15, the jubilee exhibition of the famous Kyiv artist Volodymyr Balyberdin “Artist and Time” opened at the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine. The retrospective exhibition presents dozens of works from different periods of the artist’s work, which allow the viewer to see how the author grew and changed during dozens of years of work. These are sculptures from the series “Fern”, “Emotions”, “Angels”, “Wings” and others, and decorations with carved mother-of-pearl, elephant and mammoth tusk, etc.
The iconic exhibits of the exhibition are the artist’s works created during the hot phase of the war over the past three years and were made in the spring of the 22nd year from shell casings collected from Irpin and Bucha, after the liberation of Kyiv Oblast from Russian occupation. The master has been working in the field of decorative and applied arts for about 50 years. As a well-known jewelry artist, he creates jewelry in original techniques and interior items. Virtuously operates such materials as metal, bone, mother-of-pearl, and precious stones. He creates sculptural compositions in bronze, in which one of his favorite images is the Angel.
Volodymyr Balyberdin has been the head of the decorative and applied art section of the Kyiv organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine for many years. He is the organizer, curator and participant in numerous exhibitions, plein airs, and art events both in Ukraine and abroad. Volodymyr Ivanovych is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, laureate of the Kateryna Bilokur and Tetyana Yablonska art awards, the author of the idea and the head of the organizing committee of the All-Ukrainian project “Modern Fire Art of Ukraine” (ceramics, glass, metal).
