Tamara Hordova: exhibition of decorative painting

Friends! On June 6, at 4:00 p.m., the museum opened an exhibition of works of decorative painting by the honored artist of Ukraine from Cherkasy, Tamara Hordova.

The exhibition presents about 30 works of the famous artist, made in the author’s pen painting technique, in which Tamara Hordova has been working for about half a century. This execution technique enables the craftswoman to achieve extraordinary openwork lines and lightness of the drawing.

The artist’s creative work includes more than two hundred works, including decorative paintings, thematic panels, monumental paintings, Easter eggs, which decorate the expositions of about 30 museums of Ukraine.

One of the features of Tamara Fedorivna’s decorative paintings is the synthesis of her artistic works with poetry and music. The vast majority of the works in the exhibition are part of a large series of paintings “To you, with you and without you” (1996–2000), created in creative collaboration with Cherkasy poet Lyudmila Taranenko.

Tamara Fedorivna was born on August 30, 1948 in the village of Tsvitna, Kirovohrad region, in the family of famous folk masters Maryna Mukiivna and Fedor Petrovych Hordovych.

She graduated from the Odesa Art and Theater School (1974), the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (2007). Since 1976, she has participated in many exhibitions, 80 of which are personal. Since 1984 – a member of the NSHU.

Interest in the language of symbols and the desire to explore them led Tamara Hordova to study art history at the Faculty of Art Studies at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. She defended her diploma on the topic “Decorative painting of Cherkasy region” under the guidance of Volodymyr Mogilevskyi.

The first work was born in December 1975. It was a painting “Feathers fell on the yard…” to a poem by the poet-songwriter Yuriy Rybchynskyi. The insightful performance of the song by People’s Artist of Ukraine Nina Matviyenko affected the emotional soul of Tamara Hordova.

In the collection of the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine there are Easter eggs made by the craftswoman using her original technique.

The exhibition will last until June 30.
