UKRAINIAN CERAMICS – THE SPIRIT OF INDETERMINATION
On October 13th at 5:00 PM, the art project “ZOO ZOOM 2. Ukrainian Ceramics – Spirit of Resilience” will open. The project has invited 40 professional ceramic artists from all regions of Ukraine to participate. The project’s theme revolves around symbols of resilience depicted in zoomorphic sculpture. The artists will exhibit over 50 works, including sculptures, pottery forms, small-scale sculptures, reliefs, installations, and more. The idea for the continuation of the project and the choice of the theme belongs to Lyudmyla Strokova. The project curators are Ksenia Bashutska from the exhibition department of the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art and Olesia Dvorak-Halyk from “ЦеГлинаАрт” (ClayArt). From 2018 to 2019, artists worked on the all-Ukrainian exhibition-art project “Zoomorphic Sculpture in Contemporary Ceramics.” It was a multifunctional artistic event aimed at popularizing contemporary ceramic art in Ukraine, implemented within the walls of the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art. ZooZoom I was a continuation of the exhibition project from 2016-2017 titled “Aqva vita from Pottery Beauties” (zoomorphic pottery from the museum collection), where over 120 zoomorphic vessels from the 19th to the 20th centuries from the museum’s collection were presented.
