About event

The exhibition “Pulse of Ukrainian Modern Enamel” opened in the museum, carried out according to the program of events of the cultural and artistic festival “BoychukFest”, which is being held for the second time by the Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts named after Mykhailo Boychuk.

The importance of the “BoychukFest” festival is difficult to overestimate, because the Boychuk Academy, despite all the difficulties and challenges after the destruction of one of the higher education buildings during a Russian missile attack, demonstrates indomitable spirit and continues to work successfully. This was emphasized by Lyudmila Strokova, the General Director of the National Museum of Decorative Arts, in partnership with which the exhibition was organized. The exhibition presents works made in the hot enamel technique. The vast majority are course and creative works of students of the department, made under the guidance of Tetyana Ilyina, senior teacher of the department of monumental and easel painting KDADPMD, curator of the exhibition. Among the authors are Rostyslav Zavhorodniy, Kateryna Savchuk, Annaundefined Pavlyuk, Anastasia Berdnyk, Yuvenaliy Savyuk, Roman Zhulenko, Amelia Komyz and others.

Tatyana Ilyina said that only one of the seven diploma theses remained, at least five are still under the rubble after the Russian missile attack on the Academy. Miraculously, the work of Stanislav Kovalev, which the author took from the university on the eve of the tragic events, also survived. Now it can be seen at the exhibition. Also presented are several iconic works of the famous artist Oleksandr Boroday from the collection of the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine and a family collection, as well as a work by Volodymyr Fedek, who was the founder of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Arts (old name).

“The exhibition reflects the line of artistic enamel, as the traditions of the craft, passed down from hand to hand for thousands of years from master to student. My teacher was Oleksandr Borodai. Currently, I am passing on the knowledge of how to work with such rare equipment to the third generation, to my students,” said the curator of the exhibition, whose works are also undefined are shown at the exhibition.
