About event
On September 12, at 4:00 p.m., the opening of the large-scale exhibition “White Magic. Porcelain” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Kyiv Experimental Ceramics and Art Plant (KEKHZ) will take place.
This is a joint project of the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine and the Kyiv Porcelain Museum. More than 450 high-art products of the 1930s – 1990s of this well-known enterprise in Ukraine and abroad, which is rightfully considered the leader of the domestic porcelain industry of the 20th century, are presented in the exhibition.
Among the exhibits are exquisite Petrikov ornaments, first introduced on porcelain precisely at KEKHZ, in the decoration of numerous vases, plates, services, etc. They demonstrate the unique creativity of the well-known Petrykiv craftswomen Vera Klymenko-Zhukova, sisters Vera Pavlenko and Anna Pavlenko-Chernychenko, Marfa Tymchenko and their talented followers. An extravaganza of unsurpassed images that draw their themes from history, songwriting and mythology, everyday life and fairy tales, multi-genre art (circus, ballet, dance), etc. are brilliantly embodied in the works of famous sculptors Vladyslav Shcherbina, Oksana Zhnikrup, Svitlana Golembovska (Bolzan), Olga Rapai, Grigory Moldavan, and others.
The unique works of outstanding artists Pavel Ivanchenko, Oleksandr Sorokin, Lidia Mityaeva, Susanna Sarapova and many other artists of the plant, presented at the exhibition, testify to the inextricable connection of domestic artistic processes with European and world trends. The exhibition, located in three halls of the museum, tells about the century-old history of the Kyiv experimental ceramic and art factory, the complex and at the same time interesting technology of manufacturing porcelain products and the specifics of their decoration.
